We are hoping some one has information on the parents and sibling of Thomas Williams. He is listed on the 1886 list at age 38 and his wife is Julia. We have not been able to find who is parents are or who his siblings are. We appreciate all the help this site has given to so many of us that are still looking .
Thanks so much Sharon

I found a Thomas Williams who died in Goodhue County ,MN on1/21/1917. Death Certificate # 1917-MN-004408. it may have family information on Ancestry has nothing on him prior to 1900. I also found a Thomas Williams born@1845 MN, and his wife was named Josephine, in the 1880 US Census for Moody,Dakota Territory.

Hey, good to "see" you hermin1! Things get dull when you are not around... and it would seem a little off track. Good to see you back and inspiring us to work a bit harder to keep up.

Sharon, I"m also looking for Thomas Williams. My great-grandfather was Samuel Thomas who was married to Annie Greene Ptegomani. Samuels' parents were Thomas Williams and louisa Frenier Campbell. Thomas later married Julia (Wabasha) ? I believe? I would appreciate it...if you have any information! My email is ndn_pride1@hotmail.com.

I found a Thomas Williams on the St. Phlips Chapel records, Vol. I, pages 76-77. It's hard to read everything, but I can make out White Swan, SD, Sept 16/94, #351, Thomas Williams, born in White Swan, SD on May 24/94?, parents are Moses Williams and Emily (West) Williams. Don't know if it is the same one, but thought I'd reply :-)

the Thomas Williams aka anpaohdinajin, you mention was married to Julia Wabashaw, daughter of James and isabel(Cankakinzewin).the 1858 annuity roll listsan anpaohdinajin with a wife and child., with Passing Hail's band. , butthere is none in the 1860 annuity roll. there were two trials held for Anpaohdinajin in 1862. According to Carloine Ruth anderson(Dakota Identity In Minesota 1820-1995. 1997. Indina University. chapter 4.) it is possible that theere one was the father, and the other was the son, or that anpaohdinajin was convicted, convicted and sentenced to hang then (Records of the US Senate, Trial Transcripts).According to a list of prisoners, ther was one Anpaohdinajinof the Cloud man or Lake Calhoun Band at Davenport prison.( TSW 1865,riggs,papers). the 1874 Santee census lists anpaohdinajin with a wife and son with Wabasha's band. there are two thomas Williamses on the 1879 santee Census, one with four family memebers, and one with only two. By the 1880 census, here are no Thomas Williamses listed. by 1885, thomas and wife Julia were enrolled as Mdewkantons in Minnesota, along with one son and three daughters. the Redwing Republican(newspaper) published an article on him on January 24, 1917, after his death.
the author of that dissertation also mentions that a large persentage ofthe Dakotas who returned to Prairie Island came from Flandreau and Santee. and some of them traveled back and forth to Prairie island. I am wondering if the thomas Williams I found at Flandreau may be the one father of the thomas williams at Prairie Island or if it is the son?

i forgot to add that you need to get his probate papers from the bIA, or you can contact the NARA in Kansas City and see if they have a Family History sheet on hi, You might also want to find thatnewspper article and see if it has nanything on his family in it. Another possible source would be the flandreau Museum , which may have a file on Thomas Williams.
