Looking for a marriage license of Phillip Webster b.1849 & Tiakiskatewin, english name unknown. Any help out there? Thanks gals/guys!

hi grace, according to philip webster's probate, they were only married through an indian ceremony at santee in 1867. she died 9-19-83. their only child listed is anna webster redowl. however in the testemony of henry jones he states that they were married by indian custom and later by legally.

in the 1886 census i have a okisapa aka philip webster age 41 hanyetuwakanwin aka lucy webster 52 wife. i will keep looking

Since Anna Webster Redowl is the daughter of tiakiskatewin and Philip Webster, have you checked Anna's probate to see if it lists an english name for her mother? It looks like Tiakiskatewin died in 1883.

You gals are good! Who is Tiakiskatewin's mother. I saw hermin1's post that she is the 1/2 sister to Josephine Webster & Lulu Premeaux. Could is be Jane Hoffman Premeaux?

Update:
Philip married his 2nd wife Julia first in Indian custom then married her by ceremony. I believe this is the wife that the witness was referring to.
