I am seeking information re. the Rev. Iron Old Man,acting pastor for, and one of the original Flandreau Homesteaders from Santee Reservation in 1869. the only other information I have is that he froze to death during a snow storm on his way to Flandreau from Santee. What year did he die, where is he buried? Did he have a wife and children, and if so, what were their names? Who were his parents? I am wondering too, if John P. Williamson may have provided any information about Rev. Iron Old Man. I would appreciate any information you could provide. Efharisto gia teen voeethia sou.

Hermin, I was reading the booklet "An Experiment Of Faith" it's about the Wakpaipaksan Okodakiciye- Bend in the River Church. I remembered reading of the rev. that died. He was "iron old man" His indian name was Wicahincamaza. His english name was Joseph W. Graham. He is believed to have died on Satuday, April 8th,1871. After his death, he was taken back to the Wakpaipaksan "bend in the river". I found this on pgs. 28,29 and 30 of the booklet. I hope this helps. www.fsst.org/PDFs/Church_History_Booklet.pdfDebbie

Debbie: Thanks so much for this information!!! I hope you will also check out that web site I postedfor the History of the flandreau Santee Sioux, which is also a pdf file. I read it over four times even after I printed the document out. It is so informative. I will print off the booklet you referred me to as well.
