:-*Re: tunkanihdriskanskaswin: I ran across a name opf one of the prisoners that was tried at Mankato, and his name translated, meant One who walks with his grandfather. I wonder if this is the same person?

I couldn't find anything on Charles Eastman at either Ancestry.com or Family Search. But I did find the following: 1910 US Census for Spade,Knox,Ne: Edward Eastman: Age 51, born @1859 in MN, parents also born Mn., he is full blood. Louisa Eastman-wife: age 38, born in MN, parents also born MN.she is 1/2 blood. Marriage record for Adaile Eastman: cert. # 12750 Registered#20-255 Adaile Eastman, Age 17, residence: Niobrara,Knox,NE. Spouse: Stephen Rouse, Age 29, Residence: Dante,Chas Mix,SD. marriage Place: Tyndall,bonHomme,S.D. Officiant: J.F. Krepuenske,J.P., Date: 14 May,1930. marriage Record for Mary Eastman(step-mother to Adaile):Cert. #115642 Reg.#9-243 Mary Eastman, widow Age: 52,Residence: Knox,NE. Spouse: James Reed Berry, Age 64,Residence: Dante,Chas Mix,S.D.Widower. Place of Marriage: Tyndall, BonHomme,S.D. Officiant:J.F. Kropeunske,J.P. Date: 9 Dec 1926. You won't find anything on Adaile's children, in terms of a census record, at either ancestry or Family Search, because they were born after 1930. the 1940 Census won't be released for another year.

Mahpiya wakacita: would you see if there might be anything on Joseph Mahpiyatodan in those records?I've reached a dead end in re. to finding out anything about him. He was the father of Joseph Walker( born @1865 at Crow Creek,S.D.). Other than this and being told that he was a prisoner at Camp McClellan and released from there after 1 year in prison, I have nothing on him. Joseph Walker's wife was a dau. of Samuel Stone. I was also told that Joseph Philbrick passed himself off as Joseph Walker, but there is no written proof of this.

Thanks for all the info on the Eastmans. Adaile Eastman's daughter is a very close friend of mine, she is almost 80 and she remembers only bits and pieces. Her name is Mae and her sister is Martha. Does anyone know how these guys are connected to Goodthunder, Yellowthunder or Black Elk.
Thanks Gloria

I think there may be some information on them in the book Through Dakota eyes, as it talks about Many Lightenings etc.
