Can anyone tell me about the Mary and Jacob Walker. They had a son named William. They are listed on the 1886 and 89 census. I am trying to find out which of their children is the parent to Emma Saul their granddaughter.
Thanks

Dawn: there was an Emma Walker-niece, Age 8, Born Min.,parents born in Canada, who is listed with the Jacob Walker family in the 1880 Wisconsin census. Is the Emma you are talking about? If my information is correct, Jacob and his brother John, had lived at Santee for a while and then moved to Wisconsin. John B. Walker(John's son) apparently moved back to Santee because he and his family were listed in the 1887,and 1902 Census, as does John Walker.

I will look them up again tonight so I have the ages correct. I bet it is the same as what you have listed it is just that the 1889/86 have her listed as Emma Saul Granddaughter. I think she is listed as 15 years old.

Hermin1 here is what the census says.
1889 Paririe Island
number 5 Jacob Wlaker 44 Mary Walker 58 Wife William 18 son Emma Saul 15 Granddaughter
The typed 1886 from old website Jacob Walker 62 Mary wife 56 William son 14 Emma granddaughter 13
Another list I have labeled 1886 census exhibit A and B. Which lists their name and rank in family, age and land. But it is in alpa order. It lists Emma with the last name of Walker and as a granddaughter m 12 with means from Mdewakanton and from family number 12. Other family for M12 are Jacob Walker, Thomas Walker (Adopted boy), William Walker son and Mary Walker wife.
Hope this helps.

::)the Jacob Walker in the 1880 Wisconsin census also listed an Emma Walker-age 8 as a niece, a nephew, but no name given, aged 10, and Anna walker-age also 8. These girls must have been twins.Jacob Walker was the head, and his spouse was named Sarah, as was his brother John's wife. I have nothing on Jacob Walker at Santee at all. I have the stuff on John Walker and his son John B(Bud) Walker for Santee. Neither of them list an Emma Walker/Saul.

there is a serious discrepancy in the Age of Jacob, between 1886 and 1889 Censues. He must have found the fountain of youth, for him to get younger from 1886 to 1889. I find this very suspicious.

I think his age should have been 42, instead of 62, is that right? Sara

I would say one of the census records has the wrong age. Since Mary is 68 I am guessing he is in his 60's.
