I am searching for any information on a Thomas Hunka.
He may have been born in Minnesota or South Dakota.
I am sorry I do not have more information on him.
I am trying to determine if he was ina anyway related to Anna Siyaka Hunka(see page 4 of Archives section for her probate data)
also need to know the english translation for the following words:
Siyaka
Hunka
Tatewicuwa
Anna Siyaka Hunka was married twice: to Frank Stay, and then to William Siyaka. I did find her and him listed in the 1900 US Census for Dumarce,Marshall,SD. According to their entries, William and his parents were born in Minnesota, and Anna's
parents were born in Minnesota. Anna was born in South Dakota.

I am as familiar with Anna Siyaka, or as much as the Sisseton Records can give. I am not however able to go back further than her or further than Tatewicuwa. I know that Moses Williams family is said to descend from Waanatan and have been looking for a connection to that family, but so far have not found it. Siyaka is a small bird. Teal in color. I have also wanted to connect or attempt to connect the Siyaka family with the Siyaka who sang songs for Densmore on the Standing Rock Reservation. I will go back to my file cabinet to see if there is any bio information on him. I believe that there is. There is also a very lenthy family tree on the Frank Stay/Jetty family on Ancesty. It focuses on the Canadian line and goes back from only Frank's marriage to Anna Siyaka. Nothing on her line. I was unable to contact the person who submitted it as I wanted to know the source of such information. I will post what I find in my papers.

The person who researched this family shows Tatewicuwa means "Whirlwind".
