I happened across this thing on Good Thunder.
GoodThunder was born in 1819 and died in 1901. He was called Walinyanwaste, until baptized as Andrew GoodThunder in 1860. He lived in Kaposia,a Dakota village on the Mississippi River south of present-day St.Paul. GoodThunder moved to the Lower Sioux Agency after the treaty of Traverse des Sioux was signed. His first wife, Snana, which means "the sound of tinkling brass,"was born at Mendota and moved to the Lower Sioux Agency new Morton after marrying GoodThunder in 1852. Together they had a child who went to school in Fairbault. When she was 12yrs old she died in the school. It was said that right before she died, she had a dream her father was baptized. GoodThunder and his wife were baptized right after their daughter died.
GoodThunder's wife left him and he married Sarah. Sarah's name in Dakota was Mockpedaga, which means Checkered Cloud. She was the widow of Shankah Skaw (White Dog) who was a singer of the treaty of Traverse des Sioux, and led the Dakota who led white soldiers to their death at the Battle of Redwood Ferry. Sarah and GoodThunder had no children but adopted an orphan. Their adopted son was Charles Whipple GoodThunder. He and his wife had 13 children. Charles GoodThunder's last son died at the age of 91 in 1998.
I have found census records on Charles GoodThunder but I am trying to find out who Good Thunder's parents were I'm not to sure but his father may be PlentyWolves but I can't find anything on that name. PlentyWolves father was BigHand also can not find anything on him.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.#nosignature#
