Looking for any info on WAR EAGLE, his wife Mazakirawin, and what his other wifes name was. I need info on the 13 children Brugier had with his daughters Dawn & Blazing Cloud, also on Felicit DuSant & Blue Scar Woman w/ Augustus Traversie and possibly on a Ben Langlois who died in Charles Mix Co. and left everything to L.A. Steckley??? Sorry so vague but I dont have much to work with cbigeagle@hotmail.com

that is putting it mildly. Type the following: Chief War Eagle in the search box of your browser, and see what comes up. I guarantee you, you will find information on him. Incidently. War Eagle only had 1 wife named mazakirawin. they married around 1830 in Minnesota. he was born 1785 and died in 1851. They had 7 children, 4 girls and 3 boys. Theophile Brugiere married two of his daughters: Dawn and Blazing cloud. William Dickson married one of War Eagle's cousins.

I see that Hermin1, when I was down in Sioux City a few years back I went there personally, as of yesterday, I spoke with a lady @ the Pearl Street Research Center and had a girlfriend personally deliver her some $$$ for info I probably already have and have had for 4 years. As for my browser I know how to use one; I printed this for a relative as I have that up and running now. Do you know anything of War Eagles three sons? Thanks for your time. connie: here is what I got from the reference librarian at the Sioux City Library, re. the children's names of War Eagle: iron shaker or Shaking Iron aka Elizabeth fires the Cloud or blazing(Cloud) Red gun-son Lies Down All A Tingle-dau. Dawn Peter Longfoot Double Worth-son __________ the information on Felicit DuSant(Felice DeCant) Traversie and her family is posted elswhere on this website.I don't remember under what heading. So you willhave to let your mouse do the clicking to find it. As for Theophile Bruguier. I have nothing as yet on all thirteen children.

Thanks Hermin1, Yes I printed that info you mentioned on Felicit. I was under the impression she was War Eagle's Dau as well. Christian names may show that to be so...I know there are some War Eagle in the Eagle Butte area but I dont know much about them. Alot of people descend from him as Theopile Brugier and his wives had 13 children. Those ones would be alot easier to figure out. Thanks so much at least I have a little more to go on. i just got back from www.rootsweb.com at the World Connect Project link. It turns out as I found, when I typed in theophile bruguier in the search Engine, that Theophile and the two daughters were the parents of 14 children. He sired 8 with Blazing Cloud: Andre, Charles, Eugene,Jean Baptiste, Marie, and Selena were born in the Northern Plains. Rose was born in Sioux City, Iowa. With the second wife, Dawn, born 1814, they had 6 children: John( b. @1850 Poplar creek, Upper Missouri), Joseph(b. 1849 at Ft. Vermillion,SD; d. Aug 1889),Samuel( b. @1845,Fort Vermillion, SD), Victoria( b. @1857, died in St. Louis, MO as a young child),William( b. @ 1852 at fort Vermillion,SD; d.30 Apr. 1921 ,Sioux City,Ia) and Julia(b. 15 Nov 1844 at Ft. Vermillion,SD; died 13 May 1934). Theophile Bruguier was born 31 aug. 1813 at Parish,L'Assumpcion, St. lawrence river and died 18 Feb. 1895 at Salix, woodbury ,Iowa and is buried there as well. Dawn(Anpao)war Eagle was born @ 1817, L'Assumpcion,Quebec,Canada. she died in 1859 and is buried with her sister Blazing Cloud, father War Eagle and several grandchildren on a bluff overlooking the Missouri reiver in Sioux city,IA. His Monument and surrounding area was designated a National Historic Monument-War Eagle Park. I recommend you log on to www.rootsweb.com. there is a welth of information and several descendancy charts on the Bruguiers and descendants.

I as a little confused too by that name Red blanket woman, especially since the librarian said that War Eagle fathered only 7 children. When I was going to school, years ago,we were told that Theophile had married all 4 of war Eagles daughters. My friends at Native fam. said that was hogwash! He only married thetwo mentioned above. do you know, is War Eagle's wife buried with him and the two daughters, and grandkids? Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Go to www.ancestry.com. Type in the First name "Chief", & Last name "Bigfoot". Make sure you're doing an Exact Search, & not a Ranked Search. Under trees & communities, you'll see Ancestry World Tree entries. There should be bout two submissions. Click this link. Then click on either of the two submissions. Now check out all the different descendants of Chief Bigfoot. There is an Index link as well. Click Index & search by letter(s). Go to "B" to find "Bruguier", & So on. Or you can just type in a name. There's a search engine as well. It has been said that this is perhaps the most accurate, & extensive list of Sioux families, including all Sioux bands. War Eagle descendants are Chief Bigfoot descendants as well. You'll know you're at the correct page if you see the headline "Ikceya Oyate". Hope this works. Mitakuye Owasin

KNOWING. thats what it gave her..Thank you so much. She did come up with a baptism on Augustus at all Saints Church in Eagle Butte and we are going to keep on searching.....Red Bear Track comes to mind just now as that is one of the few Native names I come with on her line.
