derockbraine1: I would appreciate it if you would please tell which Census rolls you were referring to, in ref. to them showing Joseph Ironchield as a father in law to Antoind Derockbraine. Ancestry.com lists 2 Marriage records for an Antoine Derockbraine: 1. Antoine Derockbraine Age 27,to Emma Blackfox on 27 Aug, 1923 Timberlake,Dewey,SD. by E.S. Ludlow,J.P.,Lic. # 96700,Reg. # 458 2. Antoine Derockbraine Age 63,Widower, to Harriet Yellow Earring, Age 50 Single. Date: 3 Jul 1933 at McIntosh,Dewey,SD by C.H. Belknap,J.P. Lic. # 160124, Reg. # 1887. ________ What does Josephine Redday's marriage to Andrew Derockbraine have to do with finding a link to Joseph IronShield? ____________ I could not find any marriage record for either of Joseph Ironchield's daughters(Fanny, and his adopted daughter,Esther) to an Antoine Derockbraine., or anyone with the Derockbraine surname.

Hi Hermin1, the census roll I was referring to is Standing Rock 1900, where Joseph IronShield is living with Antoine Derockbraine as a father-in-law. Joseph's wife is Mary IronShield. We have come to the conclusion that there is probably more than one Joseph IronShield, as we cannot locate him anywhere else on Standing Rock, other then that one census. He is listed as an unalloted Indian. We are also looking at Anpetudutawin married to Antoine Derockbraine, she has nothing to do with Joseph Iron Shield, but is another connection for us to the Sisseton/Wahpeton Tribe. She is our gggrandmother. And our great grandfather Antoine Derockbraine has gotten married three times that's why the confusion, plus there are two other Antoine Derockbraine's. Sorry, but thanks for the help! derockbraine1

There are Iron Shield names on this roll, and I hope, some of you might find relatives here. Thank you for the posting. We already have this annuity roll however it is impossible to differentiate which Joseph Iron Shield is on this roll and there is another name that is quite close. We have also found more than one Iron Shield who married at St. Peter's church in Fort Yates, N.D. We attempt to identify our Iron Shield through approximate age, or DOB if we have it and wife's name and daughter's names. This annuity roll lists none of these identifying characteristics. At my last count there are at least four Iron Shields living at this point in time. So we continue our research but we were fortunate to find out what the membership on the 1909 annuity roll means in terms of ancestry. We have more than one ancestor on this roll. The 1909 annuity roll and the discovery of Antoine's mother's name and the knowledge that some other ancestors have records at the Sisseton agency confirms our family oral history that we came from MN. We also received crucial information from this post and from other members. Thank you. vmarier
