Does anyone have any information on surname grey owl? Have you seen it anywhere? Im looking for a friend and need a starting point. Thanks

Conkicakse - Divided Wood Church at Crow Creek Agency, was organized at Ft. Thompson, Dakota Territory by Rev. John P. Williamson in July 1863 with 168 members. Then in 1866 they were moved to Niobrara Nebraska to join the prisoners released from Davenport Iowa. Pilgrim Church Ohnihde was organized July 21 1866 by Rev T.S. Williamson with with 225 members from Ft. Thompson and 157 from the Prisoners Church, a total of 382 members.

Kangiokute- Shoot at Ravens- Crow Creek Ft Thompson SD and also Grosse, SD - Crow Creek Reservation- Organized 9-30-1888 with 29 members.

Well, I did a search of the surname Grey Owl at Ancestry.com, not knowing which one you wanted information on and I found a lot of GreyOwls in South Dakota mostly iin buffalo County at the crow Creek Reservation, and some in roberts County. One in particular I was able to find a family census: Helper Grey Owl Age 77, born @1858 in SD Wife Marcella Grey Owl b. @ 1863 Fow,Edward son in law b.@1900 SD Fow, Molly daughter b. @ 1907 Fow, Eugene Grandson b. @ 1928 Fow, Sophie grand daught. b. @1900 Fow, Dugan b. @ 1924 grand son Fow, robert b. @ 1925 grandson Fow Pauline b. @ 1926 grand-daught. Fow, Julia b. @1892 daught. in law Fow, Roba grandson B.? Doy Velma Gallow b. @1923 Step-daughter. Ref. is 1930 US Census Twp. 108, Buffalo, SD. _____________________________________________ I did find a few in Minnesota also.

there is St. Stephen's at Crow Creek. they are supposed to have a log f old recordswhich date back tothe 1800's and early 1900's. I was refered also to the Catholic church at Browns Valley Minn. which also has a lot of records.

I am checking the name out for a friend who called me for church records and I am sending them to him. Also sent him the information on this page. So you may be the goose I sent the info too, looks like. I was given your email by the man that I talked to and that I ams ending the records to. His name is Melvin. Recognize? I was just trying to start a search for him as far as church records. b

Gooster: Met Melvin today and gave him all the church records that I have on disc. He was very pleased. Also gave him a copy of this info on this page. Very friendly man. He visited with myself and my husband for a few hours and had many stories to tell. I am glad I could have been of help to someone. B
