Iron Heart AKA Chante Maza

I wanted to start a different file for this relative so that I could keep this branch separate from my other request (wahinkpe).

Anyway, here is some of the information I have regarding Chante Maza.

First of all, this reflects My maternal side of ancestry. My mother is Elizabeth Whirlwind Soldier.
Elizabeth's father is Homer Whirlwind Soldier who is the son of
George Whirlwind Soldier and Lizzie Cook. There is no known Indian Name for her ....that I know of.

Anyway, Lizzie Cooks Father is John Cook aka wohela (sp) and her mother is Widow Cook or Zuyawin.

Now, Johns father is Iron Heart aka Chante Maza
and His mother is Her Good Blanket aka Tasinawastewin.

And, Widow Cooks father is Kills the Brave aka Ohitika Kte and her mother is Her Holy Blanket Tasinawakanwin.

I found these in probate research.

What I need help with is to trace of find out where Iron Heart and Kills The Brave and Spouces come from.

Can anybody help me??? Thanks

I know I have seen the names of Tasinawakanwin/Her Holy blanket, and Her Good Blanket in my wanderings through the censuses. But ancestry is not cooperating with my search for them. There arealot of Ironhearts at Ancestry that lived at Granite Falls, Yellow Medicine,MN> that would be where I would look if I were you to find your Ironheart side.

bigwahinkpe,in your probate search di d you come up with any dates(births,deaths,marriages) for these people? How about siblings? sometimes you can find something by on a person by checking on other members of his/her family.

I couldn't find anything for the others you mentioned.
but I have run across Her Holy Blanket during my hunts for others in the South Dakota Censuses. it didn't occur to me at the time to copy down the information. I am sorry to say.

Found out his death date as 1860
