Centanwinna had two spouses that I know of: Centankinye and Wizun aka Poor Bear aka Louis Coursoll. She and wizun had a daughter named Lucy lawrence,, w/o Samuel Lawrence aka Piyainajin. I don't recognize this Ituransia. Do you have any more info on him?

Sorry, sorry, sorry, I goofed on the Lucy part. It should say Isabella (Tatiyohnake) Baptized at Crow Creek in 1864. There is no birth date on the bap. for Isabella (census 's show b.@ 1846) Her mother, Cetanwinna and father, Ituransia Her son Robert Johnson b. 1873 and d. 3-18-1925 is at the top of the same page Three more of her children with 'Oyateduta' Johnson Redbird, are also listed on this page Isaac b. 1877 d.1878, Samuel b. 1883 d. 9-18-1902, Ellen b.1888 d. 5-23-1913 Robert Johnson and Elizabeth Lavina (Trudell )b. 1884 (daug of Peter and Lizzie Trudell) also have 2 children on this page. Hatty b.9-4-1899 d. 11-8-1899 and Elvina Esther Goodteacher) b. 8-13-1901 d. 1943(my grandmother) Sorry again I tend to rattle on.... Thanks so much for any thing you may have for me and for all the help you always have for everyone of us. We just have awsome staff here. I just enjoy absorbing all the different info on everyone. I get lost in it all the time. I do believe we all have the same blood. (more rattliing) I'm still having trouble with Lizzies' (Trudell) line... her mother Jennie Wakinyandutawin no father shown on bap. record if anyone has any thing on her I would sure be interested. I did see on the Santee marriages, where Jennie married a David Wakanhdikoyoke 6-11-1876 but that was 10 years after Lizzie was born?? I think Jennies Native name means Red Thunder Woman.?? Still hoping to find a link marnie

This is why I get so confused: Isabella sometimes used the name Elizabeth. aka "Tatiyohnake" w/o Johnson Redtribe "Oyateduta" Elizabeth Lavina Trudell was their Daug in law. married to Robert Johnson Lavinia's mother's name was Lizzie Kage?? Trudell Henry. Where this "Kage" thing fits in I don't have a clue. Could it be part of a native name? (ie. Itekagewin?) What do you think? one more, Lavina and Robert had a daughter named Esther E(A)lvina, my gramma Goodteacher I know we all have the same problem. You could say, we are all up to our LuLu's in Lizzies! I guess I'm getting slap happy, Good nite , Thanks for listening. marnie

I searched for Lizzie for several hours at my genealogy haunts, and came up with zilch on her using the surname Kage. I haven't the foggiest idea either what the origin of the surname is. I don't see your confusion. Oyateduta does translate to Redtribe. What is so difficult about Lizzie being a nickname or short for Elizabeth? Becky is short for Rebecca, Jennie is sometimes used instead of Jane.

I think it translates to Red Nation, instead of Red Tribe.
THere was a Dakota chief by the same name and they refered to him as His Red Nation.

I fear it more of the latter as my people came in from everywhere. Including the moon, or so it seems at times. I will just continue plugging away at it and hopefully I will get it together some day. Thank You again hermin1

i find it odd that you mentioned Augustanna, since Augustanna cut off our access to their records, last spring. At last report, this still holds.

Yes, you are correct regarding the access to Augustana. I think I had mentioned to you before I have been researching for quite sometime. I had spent my summers caring for my grandparents before my grandfather passed on we spent much time talking about the past. It was a great joy to research and find documentation on the things he would tell me and then go even beyond that. My motivation in this is focused on the elders. Daisy was his mother, my great grandmother.
