The land purchased in Wabasha County, Minnesota, viz; Lots 6 and 10, Sec. 19, T. II0 N.,R.9,W., in of little value, the soil being composed of white sand and will not hold moisture long enough to mature crops during dry

The Indians are unable to make a living on this
?- owing to the above facts. And I would recommend that pt be sold and the money derived from the sale be used to purchase land elsewhere for these Indians. $5.00 per acre would be a top price for this land. At the present time it is leased by a white man who pays $20.00 per year for the entire tract. The Mississippi Logging Company are also paying $15.00 per year for shore rights along this tract of land. Only three of the allottees are participating in these rents, viz. John Moose , Isabella Johnson and Nancy Trudell, the others having abandoned their allotments.

Should this report be approved by the Department, I would respectfully suggest that a copy of the maps pertaining to each county, forwarded herewith, be filed with the Register of Deeds of each respective county, and blueprint copies of that part belonging to Redwood County, be mailed to the teacher of the Birch Coulie Schools in Redwood County , for inspection by the Indians at that place. All papers and maps returned herewith.
