Canhdeskamani is listed as the parent to Iron Elk. Iron Elk was born around 1820 and died 1897. If any one has any information please let me know.
Thanks

Dawn, I trace back to Canhdeskamani through my gr grandma Nina Allen. On the family tree I have Canhndeskamani married to Hapadutewin. They had five children. Iron Elk, Anpetuokiyewin, Hapan, Hunktaduta and Tacankuduta. I come in under Huntkaduta, I have been told he died and Iron Elk raised his son Richard Allen? I don't know if that is true or not. If you have info on any of them that would be great. Thanks mkitto

We are under Huntkaduta also. His daughter Hapanna was the mother to Sam Sully. I have Hapanna's mother as Wabdisu. A statement from a Daniel K Weston said the Hapanna went with her mother after Huntkaduta died and they lived at Fort Snelling and after came to Redwood Falls and that Richard Allen went to live with Iron Elk.
A statement from a Joseph Hillers said that both the son and daughter lived with their mother until she died and that Allen went back and forth from his mothers to Iron Elks.
I have not been able to find any information on Wabdisu.
Keep in touch, I would be glad to share any information I have.

There are were some Wanmbisun's at Santee: zzHenry, who married Nancy Wakinyantowin Feb. 23, 1868 at Santee. his spouse was Nancy Wanmdisun aka Mayawakanwin(sp). They had a daughter Susan aka Hanyetmaniwin.susann later married a Bahr. Susan was born 1871 and died 1917 and is buried at Santee in oneof the cemeteries. Henry was born 1827 and died 17 Jan. 1898.
