I have a baptismal record showing John Tuttle and Emma Chapman had a son named Amos Tuttle. He was baptized on July 31, 1863 by W.W. Fowler, his sponsors were Samuel and Ida Wells. Further into the baptismal/weddings/burial records it shows Emma Chapman marriage to Daniel Stone on 2-22-1900 in Santee, NE @ Daniel Stone's house.
I am hoping to find out if the John Tuttle is the same John Tuttle as the one who married Ellen Stone, or if he maybe a different John Tuttle, perhaps his father. I am also hoping that if there was a probate on Emma Chapman there would be some indication as to who John Tuttle was.
Keep up the good work hermin wazi

wazi,noooow that I think of it one of the Redowls changed his name to Tuttle and became a minister at a reservation in South Dakota.He is buried there I was told. I believe his first name was John. Isearched the Internet and couldn't find anything on him.I don't know if he was married to Ellen Stone though.

Hermin;
where did you find the information regarding the Red Owl? I have heard this but have not seen anything about it. The Tuttle that became an Episcopal minister was Isaac Tuttle and his last place of work was in Porcupine, SD at St. Julius, he died Nov. 1913 and is buried behind the church with a big tombstone. I have a yearbook entry from the Episcopal archives, his picture was included. I am anxiously awaiting your answer.

Yes there are many Westons in Flandreau, many of whom I am related. I currently have the Flandreau census microfiche film at the local LDS in Rapid City. I am half way through the censuses. Unfortunately, I wasn't looking for Well's or Weston's, so I will have to go back to the beginning. Makes for fun work. I will post what I find. wazi

Debbie, not sure it this helps any but the family tree I have for Amos Weston and Sophia Wells came from Flandrea. It was in a Rogers family file. If you want a copy let me know.
It covers a number of people with the last name of Eastman, Weston and a few Woodbury and Titus.

How many Ellen Stone's are there? I have a Ellen Stone that was married to a Amos PayPay who later changed his name to Amos Grant. She lived with a George Williams who also used the name Jonah Redowl and had a daughter (Rosa or Nina) that was given up for adoption to John Lightning. She lived with David Saul no child rend that I have found and then she married a Joshua Harlan when she heard that her husband Amos had been killed. Amos lived with her for about 5 years and then we across the ocean with a show.

Dawn,
that particular Ellen Stone was the daughter of Martha Maka, who was the daughter of Wakanhditanka Ben. Wakanhidtanka Ben was the brother to Tatiyopawastewin (who married Tahocokaduta); who was the mother of the Ellen W. Stone who married John Tuttle.

Dawn, Can you tell me how the Westons are related to the Rogers? I saw in one census that Sam and Ida Wells lived with an Alace (Alice?) Rogers in Minnesota, either 1920 or 1930. They were listed as cousins. Thanks!
