Tamara thank you for letting us know of the situation. I have something from Bear Butte that I can touch when I offer my prayer. Take care of them and yourself.

thank you all so much. Jazzdog, funny, I brought him a little tiny bear with a small bag of stones I kept in the car. Stones I picked up in an area that is at the heart of my journey in this particular project... anyway. My sis, tucked it in the corner of his crib. Yesterday, our prayers were answered. They observed that he was struggling while in the chemically induced coma, that he was trying to cough and breath. by mornign they decided that he would be allowed a chance to try taking out the ventilator. by noon, they had removed it and we watched the "crash" and redline alarm turn to 86 oxygen level and then 88 and the 91 and 100!!! -of course we all cried. We watched his little chest rise and fall -on its own!! He is back! and I am so very very very grateful! -and people thought we spoiled him before! they havent seen anything yet! by afternoon he was cuddled in his mothers lap and although his beautiful big dark eyes would roll with grogginess from meds, he was opening them. Looked right at me. I wonder what he thought to see so many huge huge smiles... I think at one point the nurse told us we needed to settle down a bit and let him continue to make his way out of the fog... so we did for a few minutes... By late afternoon, he lifted his head a bit and pointed his finger at us!!!! a miracle. and again I am so grateful and appreciative to everyone and everything!

Tamara, I am so glad to hear of your nephew's recovery. I truly believe in the power of love and prayers. Young children so often have miraculous recoveries when they are in such grave shape just moments before. My prayers will be said daily for your nephew. I doubt that they will be needed though. It sounds like he has a truly loving and giving family. Take care and let us know if you need anything. Jackie

Thank you all so much, I am so grateful for your kindness and concerns.. I pass it on to my sis and her children.. it means alot to her to know that all of you care.. As a family we have had some stress these past months so it is amazing to feel my heart so light.. I cant even describe it. Must be what they mean when they say one's spirit soars... its like my heart is with the clouds and there is a heaviness that is lifted... hard to describe -but it is great!!! I am home with grandma now, but I hear he is sitting up and playing! My family is so very thankful. No one can talk about it without crying and smiling at the same time!

Tamara,
I had to scroll back to see what had happened to your nephew. I am so thankful for you, and your family, he is on the road to recovering and being an active one year old. My grandson will be two next month, and I know how energetic these little guys are.
I am in Pipestone tonight and luckily got in an RV park with wi-fi and not on my iPhone and typing tiny letters. Tomorrow we see the area and then to Flandreau on the way home. We have been all over SD these last two weeks, mostly in Pine Ridge. I have over 1000 photos and lots to tell the forum.
May the Great Spirit watch over you, and your whole family!
