Where did you find this Photo? Abe and Cora Crawford i119.photobucket.com/albums/o134/vickyvalenta/crawford.jpgThe reason I ask, is they are my grandparents. My father was Eugene Crawford, and I spent a lot of time at Buffalo Lake. I remember the softball games we played at that church in the earlier photos.

The photos above were sent to me by a cousin. I believe they appeared in a Sisseton Wahpeton calendar from a few years ago. If you can find someone with the actual calendar, I am sure the photos would be of better quality than the copies I have posted. :-)

It is my pleasure, Hermin1. There are so many photos in this bunch which are simply labeled "unknown". It makes me sad. :-(

I am posting these for Navajo/ Beth Robertson. Please let her know if you recognize any of the unidentified folks- I think this is Thomas A Robertson, Ida Shortfoot Robertson and a young James Wabashaw Robertson This is James Wabashaw Robertson with violin. On the back of this photo is written James Wabashaw Robertson I think the man standing is James Wabashaw Robertson, I do not know who the man seated would have been. On the back of this photo is written: Robertson's Indian Orchestra 1909, concert and dances, Headquarters-Advance Office, Veblin, South Dakota. I know the man seated with violin is James Wabashaw Robertson, I do not know who the other people are.

Hi kathryn09, I have looked through my piles and do not find a photo of John, nor do I recall ever seeing one. The good news is that there is one waiting for you at NARA in KC! Check out the Finding Aids for Sisseton and look at the list of photographs. There is one of John- #41 and on the short list he is called a "medicine man". There may be other items here you are interested in, to fill out your minimum order at the archives.
