I have this census- 1857 Sisseton Wahpeton at Yellow Medicine. I can scan the page you need if I can find your relatives. Who are you looking for?

Totkarnagin aka Peter Dumarce and Wife Susan and both sets of parents but mainly Susans. I believe he was on the scouts list. Also I am looking for Mazawsicum whose name I found in the translated section of the word carrier and he was Asa Rice. It said he died in 1887 at Brown Earth but did not give his age and I am trying to place him as Robert Hakewaste's father. Thanks Vicky.

I am looking for a volunteer to send this census to others. I have this in pdf- HUGE files and I don't have high speed. Takes me almost 2 hours to upload. Would anyone like to have this census, and be willing to email it to others? Please let me know. Thanks a BUNCH! Vicky

Thank you so very much derockbraine. My kids keep telling me I need to take a flying leap into the 1980's. That may happen some day. Maybe.... :-)

WELL I THINK I FOUND YOUR TATEKARNAGIN...HE IS BAPTISED josephus- TATEKARNAGIN...#767...1863
AND MARIA-marpiya koyake win...#766
ST. PETERS CHURCH, MENDOTA MINNESOTA...BAPTISM RECORDS
ON PAGE 108...I HAD IT MARKED AS STANDING BUFFALO(NOT SURE WHY?--THERE MIGHT BE A VALID REASON THOUGH-I THINK ITS ONE OF HIS KIDS)
SO HERE'S WHAT IT SAYS:
A.D. 1863 die z martin baptism privatum contali josephus quobus annuis riotus et maria dublus annuis riotus as tatekarnagin et marpiya koyake win.....A. Ravoux
I DON'T READ LATINUS-GERMAN, SO GOOD LUCK ON THAT!

Jon, I would think that u are 95% right. I don't have this doc. per say but I have the list that was put out of the baptismals at Ft. Snelling in 1863 and that is where I seen it. I would so much like to have a copy of this even tho it is in a foreign language. Great job!!! Thanks

TOTKARNAJIN (Dumarce?) « Thread Started on Nov 10, 2006, 2:09am »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Searcing for answers: We have recently found information on a baptism which took place at Ft. Snelling 1862- w/ Father Ravoux. The ones baptised were Joseph age 4 and Maria age 2, last name Totkarnajin. Mother was Marpiyakoyakewin, and father Totkarnajin. This information came from the Registry of Baptisms at St. Peters Church @ Mendota. We also found in the Word Carrier the name of Dumarce that could possibly be associated with Totkarnajin. Also searching for the meaning of the name? Thanks again for all the help....sisco and kit
