I'm seeking information about this man, hanged in Mankato in 1862, and his mother, whose name I don't know. The only other family names I have are his half-sister, Winona, and her husband, Hapa (obviously birth-order names).
I'm interested in all information about this man. Also wondering if his mother accompanied him to Mankato as part of the small company of Dakota cooks/laundresses, or was she on the forced march to Ft. Snelling and the internment camp there; if the latter, did she survive the camp and end up in Crow Creek....
Thank you to anyone who can offer any help!

coledai: there are several women inmy records named Winona and several, chaska. the records for the Crow Creek consist of only several pages that were in such bad shape that we were only able to make aout about a dozen or so names. i will check what i have and seeif there is anything on him.Did winona marry hapan before or after the Internment?if they were baptized in minnesota before ,or during the internment, then I won't be able to find anything on them, because they would have a christian name. Also ask Sara(send her a PM) for helpas Sara knows a lot about the ones interned at the prisons in Davenport.
