Sophia and Narcisse Frenier were the parents of Peter, Mary and Cora (at least). I have Peter's wife named Julia. Their children included Baptiste, Mary, David and Joseph. Did Peter also have a daughter named Julia? I checked the heirships I have from NARA and have nothing for them, sorry.

Dear vicky: Peter Frenier was the son of Narcisse Frenier. He married Julia ? and one of their children was Baptiste Frenier. baptiste Frenier married nancy LaBelle(d/o Baptiste laBelle)and they had three children as you posted:. Allegedly, acording to the BIA in Aberdeen, their daughter Julia Freneir was married to James C. Day. He died in 1942. the puzzle is that on Baptiste laBelle's probte, it shows Nancy, also lists her and Baptiste Frenier as the parents of Julia Frenier(Goodbird). I am hard pressed to understand this. Help!!!!!

It sound to me like Julia married twice. Once to Mr. Day and once to Mr. Goodbird. These marriages should be available at the SD marriage database at ancestry.com, or possibly they can be found in the SW censuses at ancestry? Julia's probate would be a good one to see, to solve the mystery. :-)

Hermin, I checked with cousin Joe, the LaBelle expert extraordinaire, and he only has the following marriage for Julia- James C. Day d. 31-AUG-1942. He adds: She could've remarried...She was only 29 years old when James C. Day died. I'd look for a SD marriage for Julia Frenier or Julia Day to someone named Goodbird after 1942. Are those available that recent, with privacy laws and all?

Hermin1, check the last page of Baptiste LaBelle's probate. Julia is listed as Mrs. Eli Goodbird. So it would seem- Julia Frenier b. c. 1913 Married James Day who dies in 1942. Julia marries Eli Goodbird some time between 1942 and Baptiste LaBelle's death in 1956. Eli was the son of Joseph and Josephine Goodbird. I don't see any of them on any Federal census after 1900-

Dear vicky: i didn't think to check the last page. but anyway, i spent this afternoon looking for a Julia Frenier-goodbird at ancesctry , but got zilch!! ancestry shows Peter Frenier born@1850 with a wife named jenny or Julia, on both the regular and tihe indian censuses. james C. Day's probate says that Julia and he were married in 1935 by ceremony., yet Ispent last weekend trying to find the marriage record at ancestery.com but got nowhere. south dakota Marriage tIndex that ancestry has goes from 1905-1949. If ihad someidea as to twhen this eli goodbird was born or died,Icould see if something shows up at Ancestery.

I wonder if the Goodbird family changed their last name at some point in time, as was common back in the day. I sure do not find them on later censuses.
Speaking of changing names, Cousin Joe tells me that James Day was James Wapaha... father, William Wapaha; mother, Augusta Standfast. I'm sure you knew that already. The only Wapaha info I have at Sisseton is William on the 1887 SW census married to a Julia, residing at Mayasan, no children yet.
The census page above says Eli was born in July, 1898.

Hermin, Joe said that info was given to him by a cousin. He does not know the source. :-( Hopefully, someone has Julia's probate and is willing to share.

Hermin, as I suspected, Peter with family can be found in 1930 in Sargent County ND. I find them on all the Federal censuses from 1900 to 1930. Julia may have married in ND.
