I am trying to find the father of {Marpiya-zi } Yellow Cloud. I have his mother as Come Stand {[Hinananjin} On LDA I find her married to Sunknape Provincial. On the 1900 census it says she had 6 children. I would like to explore this connection. I also do a lot of research on the Rosebud Sioux and will help anyone I can.

I do not know what LDA stands for. do you have any vital data on these people, such as where and when they were born, died? also if married when (year and where).

LDS is the latter- Day Saints, familysearch.org. They show Sunknape Provincial born 1828 married around 1859 to Hmaji-win {Comes and Stands}. They show one child born 1867 as Brave Ohitika Provincial. They show Yellow Cloud born 1860 marrying White Yellow Cloud born 1873 in about 1884 . I have our Yellow Cloud printout from the Rosebud and will post it soon. I also have tons from the Indian Censuses on the family. I am mainly trying to find the Father of Yellow Cloud. He died 1918 and is buried in Soldier Creek.I also believe that the names Sunknape and Hmaji-win are misspelled. The Yellow Clouds mostly use the last name Provincial now and I believe this is whereit comes from. I was told by someof the elders that the name was once much longer. I believe that it was once Provencalle. I can doument a lot of this but not all. Thanks

Over the week end in a family bible dated 1935 we found the father and mother of [Jackson] yellow Cloud, born 1860 listed as ViVi Yellow Cloud and Maggie First Hawk. Is ViVi a Lakota word and what is the correct translation of First Hawk? Thanks, Ray
