Great work! My ggg grandmother, Margaret Hart Langdeau, was baptized by father DeSmet in the 1840s or 1850s. I would like to get my hands on that record.

Hi Hermin: I just looked at Fr. DeSmet's list of the individuals baptized and my grandfather is listed as one of thes individuals. Can you please tell me the name of this book and the author. I would very muchl ike to find out more about this book for future reference purposes. Thank you.

the title of the book and particulars is: 8th Landing:the Sioux Meet Lewis And Clark Author is Mary Eisenman Carson coopyright: 2004 Published by INFINITY.COM you can order it on line at www.buybooksonline.comIt seems one of the Eisenman's or possibly two of them were Catholic Priests. Oneof them was associated with St. Paul's Mission at Marty,SD.I know that St. Paul's does have an Archives.

You will find a Photostatic copy of DeSmet Baptismal records in Pierre,SD,at the South Dakota Historical Society Archives in Pierre. It is in the Kingsbury County section under Manuscript Collection: DESMET(Father Pierre I Baptisms) 3548B Baptismal Records of Kickapoo And....,May 1839(#75-296)
Father Boeken's Baptismal Records for fort Pierre are also at the same place, buti couldn't find the section they are in. Yoo u will have to ask the people there to help you findthem.
