Wazi, BS is supposed to be the Big Sioux and stands for Flandreau. Joseph and Anna Flute did reside at Flandreau. Did you read that booklet, "An Experiment In Faith"? They might have been in it. I don't recall.

wazi: go to www.fsst.org/PDFs/Church_History_Booklet.pdf. The PDF file tkes a while to load before you can read and print it out. You may also type in the title of the booklet in your search engine and see what you come up with.

Debbie:
Sorry I have taken so long, I finally made it back to the LDS to review the microfiche film Vital Statistics 1863-1947. Prosper Armell is listed in several places on census records and birth and death records. The best record I came across was the 1905 Winnebago census list Prosper Armell 56 father dead mother dead (doesn't list either), Theresa Armell 18 daugher father Prosper Armell mother Oce ce ha kaw dead. Charley Raymond, Jr grandson father Charley Raymond mother Theresa Armell.
I hope that helps,
wazi

Does anyone know if there are passenger lists of Dakota people who were removed by steamboat from MN or the prison forts to their destinations? I have been looking in different history books and journals and I can't find anything. vmarier

I bellieve that when the Army did the daily report at fort Snelling, the chiefs of the various bands of Internees gave the report on the number of people in their group. if there were a listing(s) of the passengers on the Steamboats and trains that took the people to Crow creek, they would be either in the old records of the Steamship companies, and railroad, possibly at the Minn. State Hist. Society Archives,and/or possibly at the NARA ( in the BIA Records Group?). I have been unable to locate one which listed the names of the people. From diedrich's bookOld Betsey.... he mentions that her mother was one of those who was transported to Crow Creek, but she died in route to the Crow Creek reservation. Where Diedrich got this information from, I do not know.
