Sara and others: I am so sorry. I boobooed on John T. Chapman's parents. His father was Bushman Chapman and Makatokenwin(sp). I would not expect anyone to link to the 1885/ 1886 list directly via the Chapmans, because there aren't any Chapmans on it.

The records for St. Mary's Church from Flandreau contain this information on p. 67:
Family 28. Westerman/Goodthunder, Daniel, husband age 19 Tawicin (deceased), Grandmother age 72 Westerman, Mary (widow, Rev. S.D. Hinman. Her maiden name was Wakute) no age given Hinman, Mary born July 19th, 1889, Daughter Westerman, Francis Born July 21, 1892, Son
I copied these records from the Center for Western Studies in Sioux Falls while they were still accessible. The note at the front says that the ages listed are the age of the person in the year 1887.

I'm new to this website and am reading old posts. I come from the Chapman line and this is what we have: Canpaahdiwin and Caskeptecidan and three children: Julia Chapman (Kinyewin) married Moses Wakeman, child Philip Wakeman Chapman. Son Bushman Chapman (Tacankuwaste) married Mary (Makatokcawin) and had the following children: Jennie Chapman, married Wakinyayote, children: Luke and Louis Chapman. Ida Chapman married Sam Wells, children: Sophia and Stephen Wells. Emma Chapman married Daniel Smith, child Helen Smith Hopkins. John Chapman. Paul Chapman. Jane Chapman James. Samuel Chapman married Alice Walker, children Francis S. Chapman and Mary Lema Chapman. Third child was Jane (Julia) Chapman (Hdehewin) married Wakinyantoiciyi, had son Joseph Chapman married Sarah Huntka. So the two Julia's were sisters, although the younger one was named Jane. This Joseph Chapman and Sarah had the following children: Amelia Chapman Jones, Paul H. Chapman, Joseph W. Chapman, Mabel Chapman Mitchell Ber--? (cuts off), Guy G. Chapman, Ernest D. Chapman, Philip F. Chapman and Mollie A. Chapman Sitting D--? (cuts off) and there was another child but the copy cut this name off. Hope this helps.

Re. Nancy Myrick: My information indicates that she was first the wife of Mr. Myrick the trader who was killed in the uprising and was found with his mouth stuffed with grass. Nancy's daughter, Mary Myrick, married Rev. Samuel D. Hinman. The Reference,. The Dakota Internment at Fort Snelling 1862-1864. Author: Corinne L. Monjeau-Marz alleges that Nancy Myrick was Rev. Hinman's second wife, and this is not correct. Rev. Samuel D. and mary Hinman did have a daughter Mary, born at Birch Cooley,Minn. in 1889. but mary and her daughter weren't included in the Census because they were considered Mixed Bloods. If you're looking for Albert La Croix aka Bert, I found him at Ancestry.com when he was married to Nora Walker(daughter of Joseph and Louisa Walker), and you may find him in the Sisseton records. I have no other information on him, other than what was in Nora Walker's probate papers and what is posted above. and as was posted to Sara, Idon't have the probate papers for her.
