I had the strangest experience in Santee this past Saturday. I took a picture of my sister, Cyndi, at the alter of Our Most Merciful Saviour Church. When I downloaded, the picture came out showing the alter and a candlestick right through her head. Is this a sign from relatives now passed? I hope I am getting the upload of it with this message, because I have never uploaded a photo here before. Everyone have a terrific day, Jo An

If your camera was a regular one, I would think that you double exposed it. But as it was digital, I would say, "what a wonderful way to hear from your relatives"! I had a similar thing happen when we took pictures of our kids adoption hearing!!!!! As I before,"this is as much of a spiritual battle as legal"! Makes you realize that there are bigger things in this world than what you learn in Sunday school! (:>) INteresting that you went to Most Merciful Savior church, as while most of our relatives were with the Holy Faith church, in going through the 1834-1904 church records again, I am realizing that many of our family were baptized at MMS. Can you tell me any of the history of those two churches? Sunshine

The picture was taken with a digital camera. That is what is so scary.
I found out that from the ladies at the Niobrara City Museum that the steeple of the St. Paul's church that was in Niobrara was taken to Santee. When we went there there is the Church of Our Most Merciful Saviour and then a church building behind. Judging from the pictures they have and going there, I would say the steeple is probably on the smaller church in the back. The church of OMMS was supposed to have been built in 1854, but the cement slab outside the front door says 1866. So the cement may be from then.

poncalady: I would suggest that the image you captured of your sister, may have been due to a reflection that got superimposed on to the lens. In either cse itis a little eery.
My mom used to tell us that if we dreamt or had an experience in which we thought a dead relative was trying to contact us, we were to light a candle at the other end, say a prayer, and then put the flame out.

I thought that is what it was at first, but another picture taken later shows the candlestick in the place where it shows through my sister's head.
I just think someone was trying to reach us from the other side and tell us everything is all right with them.

Poncalady,
The entire church building (St. Paul's Episcopal Church) was moved intact from NIOBRARA to its present location behind the Episcopal church building, "Our Most Merciful Saviour," Santee, Nebraska.
