:Can anyone out there help me with info on Julia Roy? She was born about 1856, married John Baptiste Lebeau, her Dakota name is Tawacinwastewin (Good Natured Woman). I'm trying to locate who her parents are and where they are from. Where I could look to find a possible Baptism on her and John B. Lebeau. And any other information about them as well. She is our ggrandmother on our grandfather Bernard Lebeau's side. Thank you, rr.

Hey ridge I was sent a PM by peacetoall because my grandma was Belle Roy/Leroy, it seems that Francois LeRoy was married to Marguerite (Anapwihanahanwin) and they had seven children: Henry Lousia, Joseph, Maria, JULIE, Agnes, and Marguerite Jr. , it is said that Julie, Agnes and Margurite were baptised at Fort Snelling where their parents were confined. you might try to send a PM to "peacetoall" and see what he/she has to say.

ridgerunner, if my memory is correct, Roy is also spelled Roi., they dropped the Le from their surname.I have a Mary Roi/Roy who married Victor Renville. He died 8 Nov. 1927, age 78 yrs , in SD. Their children were ida RRenville-Bear Sam V. Renville Alexis Renville Louisa Renville-Tamazakan Elizabeth Renville-Dawan David Ellen Luke-Twin of Sarah Sarah-Twin of Luke Agusta I would look in Ancestry.com, and also try www.family search.org (mormon web site) I did find some more information on the Roy/Roi surname and I posted it i believe elsewhere inthis section or another of the sections of the website.

Hey ridgerunner I was looking at some records and I found this: ST. PETER'S CHURCH, MENDOTA, MINN RECORDS, 1857 - 1973 Vol. 2 Baptismal and Confirmation Register, 1857 - 1922 Page 101 (It is very hard to read) #677 Julia Roy Date of Bapt. 1863 #678 Agnes Roy " " 1863
#679 Magarite Roy " " 1863 It appears that the parents names are Francisco Roy and Margarite Roy (Npawihanahwin) the pdf. page is #12 Like I said, some of it is hard to read but the names are clear. The Priest's name was J.C. Roberts I hope this will help you out. wapate

ridgerunner,
I found some papers my aunt gave me that shows the service of Francios or Frank Roi/Roy as an interpreter and messenger during the time of the uprising and afterwards. I believe at Fr Wadsworth/ Ft Snelling.

a;so you might log into www.familysearch.org the Mormon web site)andtype in the nameof herhusband or her name and see what you come up with. You first though need to give yourself a user name and a password for future access to the web site. It won't cost you anything, itis free.
