We are looking for the baptism record of Nancy Anpahdiwin, she was born in 1831, died 1917, baptized in Redwood Falls, MN in 1863, not sure which church. She is listed on the Santee Mission Registry Book I, 1887 , as a 56 yr. old widow. This find will bring much joy to many familes. Thank You! wapate

Yes Sherwyn I did get the baptism you sent me, I already have this one, but this is for Stephen and Isabella Blacksmith Family, with only a reference to Nancy being baptized in Redwood Falls Minn. What we are looking for is the original baptism on Nancy at Redwood Falls, there should be a record there in the church where it took place. So if any one out there has a church (not sure of name) in Redwood falls Minn. that shows a "Nancy Anpahdiwin" baptized around 1863, Please let me know! Wapate

I will be driving over there on April 14-21 to search for her record. It may cost me something, but I will make a major attempt to find it.

fwaukazoo, Pidamayedo for the frogskins. I received them yesterday. It will help with the trip. I look forward to the post that was mentioned earlier... YEEEEEEEHAA! WE FOUND THE DOCUMENT! But, that's still in our future. I do have lots of leads to go on, due to the help of Barbara and everyone else on the Oyate Forum. I am very grateful for all of your help as it will reduce the time of research and inquiry when I get there. I look forward to the day when we can all sit down and talk about our research and what we have gained in our searches. I'm certain that the stories will be enlightening to us all. Some day soon...SZ

Relatives, I want to thank everyone who made trips to research on behalf of the family members who have filed a claim in this case. We have searched high and low for the evasive document for the connection to Emma Anpahdiwin and Nancy Anpahdiwin/St. Clair. If the Judge grants the 60 day extension, we will then continue on researching for this record. Has everyone submitted all records to the Ketterling Law office in Yankton? I'd also like to say that the information filed in Dr. Buttes Attachment #3, stating that we filed a claim for John McBride as our link to the 1886 Mdewakanton Census is completely untrue. When I read the motions this morning, I was completely blown away. I have never ever gone to Becky Redearth to get data or information from her. I don't know how she can say that we did go to her and submit a claim through her when we didn't. This is completely untrue. I have contacted my attorney and litigation consultant to see what we can do to rectify this misunderstanding. I have contacted Dr. Buttes and Erick Kaardal this morning, but so far, I have not gotten a response. When I get it, I will post the info on this site for relatives to know what is transpiring on this Attachment #3. SZ

hermin1, I got the record out of Dr. Buttes office with their signature on it to validate it from Kaardal's office, but it's the exact same one that can be downloaded off the internet. It's the image from out of the Church Records book Santee Mission Register Book One. I think it was on page 96 or close to it. www.wambdimoni.com/dakota_church_records/ SherwynZ

Mitakuyapi, On Saturday afternoon I'll be meeting with some families on the Yankton Sioux reservation to review some documents that they have to confirm Nancy /AnpahdiwinSt. Clair and her daughter, Isabella St. Clair/Blacksmith as lineal descendants for the MMDO. I will post what transpires out of that meeting. The families have boxes of records that show their ancestors were from the Mdewakanton Tribe and lineal descendants. This is very encouraging to hear. I got a late night call inviting me to attend this meeting. I can't wait to see what they have in their possession. SZ

Sherwynz, that is the record Buttes has, so apparently that is the record you should send in. It appears that originally the ledgers were kept in Minnesota, and when the Mdewakantons were expelled from Minnesota, the ministers brought the ledgers with them to the missions like Santee, etc. the baptsim is recorded in the ledger, ergo it is a valid record. I'd love to see Buttes expression when that record is turned in . ha ha ha

waukazoo, I have been told that the records for Bishop Whipple Mission are now also in Buttes control. but the originals are in St. Paul at the Minn. Hist. Society. type in your browser, the following: Churches In Redwood Falls MN You should get a listing with names and phones numbers and addresses.

Mitakuyapi, I got information last night that there is a man in the Pipestone, MN area who has collected historical records and documents over the years and may have a document on Isabella St. Clair/Wabashaw/Blacksmith. It may be the one we are looking for. I am setting up a meeting with this person by the end of May and will post the results of that meeting for all. I got his first name only, but is a close friend to my brother. SZ

Yes I have seen the Pipestone School records listed. I believe you go to the Minn. Hist. Web site, and type in Pipestone Indian School Records and if it is working, you should get a link to the listing of the pupils they have records on.They are at the NARA in St. Louis or Kansas City.

Mitakuyapi, The School is over for me on May 19th and after that, I plan to take my trip to the Pipestone area to research for Isabella and Nancy St. Clair. I'm certain that I won't have to worry about store hours or anything like that as he has the documents in his home, so hopefully I can research until the cows come home. Is anyone checking in Kansas City or St. Louis, MO? SZ

Sherwyn Don't forget that on Isabella's probate she is listed as "Elizabeth St Clair/Blacksmith" but I think your right that her early Minn. records should show her as Isabella Anapadiwin or St Clair, do you think that she may even be listed as a Wabasha? I did see a reference to Emma as a Wabasha, at one point, I think it was fwaukazoo showed me that. Just some thing to think about. Wapate
