Here is a link to Red River Marriages:. a listing of men who were married by the Catholic Missionaries after the establishment of the Red River Mission(1818-1831).
www3.sympatico.ca/sneakers/RRMission.htm if this link don't work, type in " Marys Genealogy Treasures" which will take you to the main web site.

This really is an interesting site. I found the name of Thomas G Anderson who is the Grandfather of Thomas A Robertson and father of Jane Robertson. I also read somewhere in their history that it was some sort of Scottish custom to name a first born son after the wifes father. Therefore, Thomas Anderson Robertson.

They call it "our little web site"., but it has a lot of historical and genealogical 'gems ".
Something else I found out in my wanderings through the Internet, is that the Wisconsin Historical Society has the records from the Territory before Wisconsin and Michigan, and Minnesota were carved out of it.

BoneNecklace How are you related to Bone Necklace? The lady I research for is related by marriage to D.K. How, one of Bone Necklace's sons. He was married to her great-grandmother Mary LeBeau for many years (1876-1915 when she died). I've been trying to find out who Bone Necklace's sons were as some cannot be proved. Donna

Donna; Sorry, I took so long but I.am trying to get my Avon business and customer base built up. Chief Bone Necklaces sons are Chief White Ghost, DK Howe, Wizi, Fast Walker, Dog Back, maybe some more I would ask the board as there is a lot of info being shared by all. His daughter who did have a lakota name was Mrs. Sully, which there are quite a bit wrote on her through the church "Stephan Mission" and about Drifting Goose and Buffalo Bull. I hope this helps as all info is from documents from Pierre, Census, Church records, etc.

Donna;
RE: There is also a book you can check out from the State library which is about Chiefs and families!! There it gives info about almost all of Chief Bone Necklace's sons! Also there is good resources like e-books thru state library that are on-line and also in minn that you can read on-line with references to these men. It does take time !! Alot of looking and reading to glim a jewel!! There is also probate and testimony from the capture and rescue during that period with docs stating that they were Chief Bone Necklace"s sons!! Hope this helps I have to get, as I want to read some of the resources put on here by Jimmie and others and so little time!! LOL
