Are there any Santee Congregational Church records here anywhere? I was talking to some one over the week-end and they said these records could not be found anywhere and I asked this person if they ever went on this remarkable site....didn't get a positive answer so I'm guessing they haven't been here. Thanks for any help. Kunsi10

Hi Kunsi. To my knowledge no one has been able to gain access the Santee Congregational Church records. They were supposed to have burned in a church fire.

You might try accessing all of the info on the Iape Oaye newspaper to try and find any documentation that took place at the church you are seeking.

About a year ago, I was searching frantically for the Congregational Church records hoping to find a baptismal record for Star Frazier. The word then that the records, or what remained of them, were in the posession of Florine Johnson, Clifford Johnson's (Uncle Popeye) widow. Shortly before she died, she told one of my Santee cousins that she had never had them and didn't know what had happened to them. I asked the Presbyterian Chuch at Flandreau, since they had been operating jointly with the Congregationals until they moved to Flandreau, but they had no pre-Flandreau records. I hope this saves you from some "blind alley searches". tokate
