Hi! I know very little of my family history. What I do know is incomplete or has been misleading. Recently I was told that my heritage is derived from the Louis Marlow/ Emma RedIron line for which I could trace potentially to my grandfather, who I understand was staunchly and rightly proud of his heritage (Earl Marlow (d)) I have also been told that there are a few other names associated with my background - LaCroix and LaBelle which al seem centered in and around South Dakota and Minnesota. The importance for me is that soon I will be enroling in a Lakota program that will prepare me to teach Math and Science on the reservations in North Dakota. My heritage and any ties I can find will greatly help me better understand my relationships and define my path in discovering my place in our world. Any and all insight is very much appreciated.

Greetings krysmarlow, I descend from the LaCroix family and have knowledge of the LaBelle's. There are two very good web sites which you might find helpful. This one is amazing and contains much useful information- www.raygor.com/Another fun LaBelle web site, although some of the LaCroix information is incorrect. The Marlow info should be helpful- rediron4.tribalpages.com/If you live near St. Paul, there is a wonderful LaBelle reunion there every summer. I know some LaBelle folks who can help you also. If you have any questions about the LaCroix, I can always be found at the Mdewakanton site- mdenney.proboards.com/index.cgi?Happy hunting, Vicky :-)

Thank you all for the information and direction I saw on one of the trees an eventual link to my paternal grandfather, Earl Marlow, but I am still digging for more details and connections. I'll be moving to the Minot area in a few days, putting me within more reasonable distance to other resources and tribal contact. I am very excited - its like having a bit of my soul returned to me.

I'm not sure what you are looking for. ?? If your Grandpa was Earl Solomon Marlow, your tree goes thus (up the Marlow branch)-
1. Your Grandpa- Earl Solomon Marlow 1923 SD- 1973 MN 2. Your Great Grandpa-Joseph Leonard Marlow 1892-1953 + Angeline S. Quinn (see the LaCroix tree I sent you for her family info) 3. Your GGGrandpa- Solomon Marlow 1853 MN- 1925 SD + Mary Frances Bonner 1856 DT- 1926 SD 4. Your GGGGrandpa was Louis Marlow the first 1818- 1870 SD, who came from France. He was married to Sophia Martin 1828-1859.
Louis the first had another son named Louis (the second). He is the one who was married to Emma RedIron. So this Louis (the second) and your GGGrandpa Solomon Marlow were brothers.
