Sara: I saw that too for Mary Myrick's father. I do remember someone telling me about 4 years ago, that Nancy had a sister,, and something about her , or her sister, being told not to marry__ Myrick( i don't remember which one). but when the uprising started, oneof those who had a hand in killing Myrick was a young Dakota sioux, whose sister he had married and then desrted for another woman.I think this is in Through Dakota Eyes.
On mary's marriage certificate to Hinman, I had to use a magnifying glassto see who her father was, and it says father is Myrick. big Jon wondered why her mother was listed as nancy robertson, and i amwondering why too.
nancy did have a brother, who died before 1870.
Andrew did have a brother or two that came to Minnesota with him. There were, and may still be descendents of a Myrick living at or near the Spirit Lake Reservation.I found a Joseph Myrick , age9 yrs old, living at the Devil's Lake Indian Reservation in the 1895. His father was John Myrick age 4I, b. Norway, mother was Sophia born in Minn. age 46, and Joseph had siblings: Gilbert, thea, alfred, annie, Clarence and Arthur.
ref. 1910 US Census, Ramsey, Benson, ND.
I also have a Frank Myrick who married hantemazawin. don't know who his parents were though. he and his spouse had 4 children, one of whom was a Joseph Myrick or Merrick.
this Joseph married married Agnes Wambdiahewin and they had 4 children. One of who was named Christina Myrick. She married [[[[ Joshua Redday.]]]]
I agree with you the only way to find out who Nancy married for sure is to ask her, but that is impossible. How about a seance?(just kidding ).
I found an Ira L. Myrick, brother of Andrew J. Myrick , whose son Frank Carlos Myrick was married twice. first spouse was hantemazawin the second, was a woman he married in Manitoba Canada, but they had 2 children, but one was a girl. Frank died at Pembina,Pembina, No. Dak. and his son Frank Carlos jr. was maried 6 times, oneof his wives was ?Leathers, but no info on children. he too died in Pembina,ND. nathan myrick wasmarried to a white woman, and they had several children. he died in St. Paul, MInn.
