I'm wondering how many people will be staying at the Casino/Hotel and how many will be staying closer to Agency Village. Are there any Hotels close with Wifi in case somebody needs to go online?

To the Oyate:
I wanted to leave a message out there because it has been very difficult when we were trying to get information from the Sisseton area regarding some of our relatives. Some in our family even contacted the late Rev. Floyd Louis Heminger with a church information request to no avail. We were told that Rev. Heminger had a wealth of information because of his years serving the Christians for some 50 some years.
Two of our family even had talked to a Ms. Heminger that they remember and that resulted in no information.
I don't want to upset anyone, that is not my intention, but does anyone know who the proper contacts would be that may have all the collected church information that the late Rev. Floyd Heminger had in his possession.
Thank you for any information.
I am, amabo4

Hello Amabo4, If you tell us who you are searching for we could help you. Allot of us on here have church records. And the Dakota Magic has reserved rooms at a cost of $56.00 a night also. HAve a good day, Sara ////////////////////////////////// November 28, 2009 Sara: Thanks for the response. I was just answering the other "rickgerlach" question on closer motels in Sisseton. I think some want to make it easier for themselves come Dec. 5, in their travel to Agency Village. Madeline Renville Campbell married Scott Campbell Jr. and from that marriage Mary Campbell was born (later became Mary Campbell Aungie). Madeline Renville Campbell died approximately 1895 and Mary Campbell Aungie died 1890. We still could not find Madeline Renville Campbell burial site. Also, my question was, the contacts for the church records that the late Rev. Floyd Heminger had in his possession at the time of his death. Thanks. amabo4

Our request from the Oyate and Sara about the possible contacts for the church records the late Reverend Floyd Heminger had in his possession at the time of his passing hits the same stone wall every time. I do not know what it is about the Sisseton area sharing genealogical church records, but the lack of responses is a further indicator that mums the word. It might have something to do with the Wolfchild case I am surmising? Thanks anyway. I am, amabo4

Hello, I am not involved with the lawsuit, never was. I never met Rev Heminger, not sure if he had the records or not.
I looked in my records last night for Madelines death and could not find them. Sorry, Sara

I wish I could attend this conference but had made other plans weeks ago. I knew Rev. Heminger, he was the paster of the Ascension (Iyakaptapi) Presbyterian Church at Big Coolie. He was a direct descendant of Little Crow. The present pastor is Rev. Enright Big Horn. The new Stated Clerk of Dakota Presbytery is Billy Kohl, who is also a member of Ascension.
If you are looking for early Dakota Presbytery Session Books which would contain Baptisms to Deaths, they are lost. Years ago they were given to Huron College. When that college folded the books disappeared. Hopefully someone has them.
Those of you attending the conference could telephone Enright or Billy and talk to them directly. Toksta ake, Louie

Jimmy,
Thats right you did all that work!!!
Thank-you Jimmy for doing that and all the other help you offer.
It is remarkable if you stop and think about how this site has been up and running with very few problems.
All the people that have been helped. All the people who have met relatives on here as well.
I think this site might get a little bit busier in the coming weeks.
And now that winter is setting in, people will be settling down to do research again.
I am so proud of this website and all its contributers. We need to give a huge round of aplause to all of us.
YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.....and all the friendships we have made. This is my home, you are my family. I am so pleased that the love seems to have returned to the board. I was worried there for awhile. Each of us is unique. Each of us has our own set of beliefs. We are not all the same, and isn't it grand? What a dull world it would be if we were. Life is too short to spend even one minute beating up on our brothers and sisters. God bless us all.
