Saw this on the web from --www.thepublicopinion.com--- This paper is from Watertown SD I know our ggggrandmother Jennie Skyman was from this church and thought many others would be interested in this
sorry I can't get the picture on but you can go to their website and the picture is on it.
I visited the Brown Earth Church today (09/07/2009). I am not sure if it is still functioning. It was open to the public. You could go inside and they had a guest book to sign. It does have a new roof and there are picnic tables outside. The cemetry has only three markers:
1. Leona Emilie Urban - B. 04/03/1906 D. 08/31/1908 2. Barnabas Goodteacher - B. 10/16/1850 D. 12/05/1880 (I am not 100% sure on this one. You could not read the name very well. My husband tried to trace the letters by running his fingers over it. And, this is the name he thought it was.) I tried checking this out on Ancestry.com and didn't find anything. So, it might now be right. Would someone else maybe know more on this one? I would sure like to find out for sure. 3. A headstone in memory of Josette Aungie wife of Rev. Daniel Renville B. 03/18/1849 D. 06/27/1878
The location of the church is from Milbank, SD you go West on Hwy. 12 six miles then you turn South for 7 miles and then turn west for 1/2 mile. It has a marker and you can see it from the road. Nice little church.
