Hi This woman was the wife of John T. Sayers. she is my great grandmother x4 was the daughter of Ojibwa chief Ma-Mongazida, I am try to find out any of her sibling brothers and sisters and any other children she may have had before John or after John. I believe she is part Sioux. I have some information I guess I am looking to see how correct some of it maybe so please if anyone has anything on this email me. Here is the information I have on her and John.
John Sayer b-1750 d-abt. 1816-1818. Took Obemauunoqua
"Chief Woman"- Of The Fond Du Lac Nation, to be his wife/woman in 1778.* Possibly born at Cass Lake* Perhaps also known as *Nancy Sayer(Birk 1983:742)*. Obemauunoqua was the daughter of Mamongazida(Big Foot) accordinng to his Snake River Diary she was a full blood Ojibway-**In the the diary it states that her paternal grandmother is said to have been married 2 times once to a Dakota where she bore Wabasha, the elder, head of the famed Wabasha lineage, and 2nd to a Ojibway where she bore Ma-Mongazida who had a son named Waub-o-jeeg. or (White Fisher). So she was the sister to Waub-o-jeeg. Ma-Mongazida's Father was *A-ke-gui-ow**A-ke-gui-ow Is said to have married Winona A Dakota Princess!?? A-ke-gui-ow's Father was Ke-che-ne-zy-auh (My Great Elder Brother) Chippewa Chief(178) died in La Point, Madeline Island, Indian Territory, Wisconsin. !Represented the Chippewa (Ojibway) tribe, as their head chief, at the signing
of the treaty in 1671 at Sault Ste. Marie, with the French. Also the same as
Sha-ga-wa-mick-aug. See History of the Ojibway People, by W W Warren.pp 316-8. A-ke-gui-ow had a brother named Sha da wish Bad Pelican Chief Plus there are sisters and I belive more brothers at least 4 other children. I have therest of this line all the way to Apsih ga Gog. or White Raven who is my 5th great grand father and the wives and all the children. I know that Obemauunoqua had other children from other men through short lived country marriages cause I have found some of those too. Other sibling's related to her are- Camcuda b.aft. 1747, Miscodeed. There is alot more I would like to share and that I can enter at another time. I have sitting in front of me some information from the R.J. Powell Papers either these papers are false or some one has switched information I have a feeling that alot of our family information was changed by our so calle indian agents because of family disputes and jealousy and blood quantum. For Instance Broken Tooth is said to have had children with Obemegeshigoqua who is also my great 4th grand mother who had children with Broken tooth one of those children is named Kabemahbe well that happens to be my 2nd great grandfathers Joseph Brunette's son and they never mentioned his union with this woman before. Joseph Brunette then married a Native woman possibly assinboine or 1/2 Dakota and Ojibwe also by the name of Josette born 1810-1813 I have not found her mother or father I actually think it was hidden for a purpose. Josette was said to have been born selkirk/NWT.
John did take a second wife she was Elizabeth McPherson.
