This has been giving me fits for some time. According to our Iapi transcriptions, there appears the following entry- March, 1885 COL. MITCHEL's Mother d 10-9-1884 - Isanyti (Santee) [v 14 # 3 p 11] OK, I go get the article and find this- Now, doesn't kunku mean mother-in-law? I know this is a nightmare to read, but can anyone make out the name of the deceased? It appears to be Isan to me. Meaning Knife? Any help here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
