the Ancestor for the Drapeaus in America is alleged to be Antoine Drapeau, son of Pierre Drapeau of France, and Mary marguerite Margotone.
Pierre and his spouse had 5 children: Antoine, and sisters Francoise, Marie, Madeleine, and Louise.
1. Antoine Drapeau( born 1648 - 1717),was born in France,. he came to New France. He served as an indentured domestic for Antoine Pepin-Lachance at St. Famille parish, Isle of orleans, from 1666 - 1669.
Antoine married Charlotte Joly, (1649 - 1718), who was an orphan. Her dowry of 50 pounds, was furnished by the King of France.
They were married on August 20th, 1669 at St. Famille, Isle of Orleans.
Antoine and Charlotte finally settled in what is now Beaumont. They had 11 children of whom 7 survived to adulthood and had descendants: Jean,Marie, Zacharie, Jean-Baptiste, Pierre, Marie -Charlotte, and Pierre known as leJeune( the younger).
One of Antoine's sons,Pierre-Antoine Drapeau married Marie-Catherine Paulette dit Poulet(d/o Antoine Paulette dit Poulet and Anne Loignon) on 21 Oct. 1748 Que,Que.
Antoine and Charlot's daughter. Marie Drapeau (born Jul. 18, 1695 port of Lev,Que)married Jean Baptiste Haley.
(Reference is titled "Antoine Drapeau the ancestor" there are more than 20 trees at www.rootsweb.com that confirm the information.
,corrections inserted in bold by Hermin1 this morning)
Given the above information, the Antoine Drappeau mentioned above may or may not have been the grt. grandfather of Narcise Drapeau, the spouse of Mary Goodline aka Prairie Chicken, nor did he settle in Dakota Teritory, unless there is a Fountain of Eternal Youth in Canada.
Narcisee's father and mother, whomever they were, may or may not have been the parents of Zooi and the other alleged siblings of Narcisse Drapeau.
Either one of Antoine Drapeau(1648 - 1717)'s sons had a son named Antoine (or Antoine with another name stuck on) Drapeau, whose son Narcisse married Mary Goodline(sp.?) aka Prairie Chicken, OR a different Drapeau from France/Canada was the ancestor of the Drapeaus of Dakota Territory.
I have been searching- to no avail- for the "Missing link" to this family, since yesterday.
(I made crrections to the above today, on this posting that I did last night. hermin1)
