Reposted for jimmy:
Okay, here is an idea. We start a new section called DOCUMENT EXCHANGE. It would be too hard and too time consuming for all of us to post the images of our actual records, but what if we instead all list the documents that we have, and are willing to email to others. We could make a post and inventory the documents we have, for instance, so and so's birth record, death record, probate, whatever. If somebody wanted that document, they could send a personal message to the poster, give them your email address and tell them which document(s) you want, and they send it. We could make a separate thread for different types of documents. One for census records, marriage records, probates, baptisms, land records, whatever documents we have. In addition to this, in other threads, we could list the old family pictures we have, cemetery pictures, even family trees, if we have them on our computers. I think this is a good idea and would make it very easy for us to share our work. What do you guys think?
I think it is activated.

I think that in the tradition of our ancestors, sharing and helping each other would honor our families. I will tell you that there is not a chance in hades that i can list all that i have, but you all know to email myself/hermin/sara/tamara, etc. if you are still searching. if we have it we will share it.

Okay, this is getting awful lonely, doesn't anyone else have some documents they could share? This won't work if I'm the only one.

Do you have the old church records? I can send them to you I think if you don't. These are the records from Santee, Holy Chapel, etc.

I have an 1864 Crow Creek Census. I acquired it at the MNHS. If anyone would like a copy, including Jimmy, please email me and I will send when possible. It is either 4 or 5 pages and very hard to read but some names are very clear.

Alright people, I know some of you must have some records on your computer you could share. Maybe a death record or two? A couple of probates? Something? Please, if you have something, please list it so we can all share.

Jimmy I have a bunch of probate records but none that are on my computer so i was thinking i could post all the ones i have and if people want a copy then i could fax them to whoever wants them, cause my copier is broke down and the one i have is so slow i would be making copies all day if anyone wanted them, now the only problem with that is everything i have is pretty much on legal size paper cause we copied everything from the national archives and that is the only size paper they use. I don't know if I have anything that anyone can use i have some stuff of people on the census and some santee , but quite a bit of information for the devils lake sioux tribe. So let me know what you think, is it worth posting cause i can't email anything to anyone ( sorry for my computer ignorance) roddickfan and ed50

I think that is a great idea. many of us have faxes or access to faxes. So go ahead and make that list. I think that you have some great probates. Please also list any baptisms, or birth records, death records, marriages, etc. that you might have. One thing we know for sure about our people. They were transients, or indigenous, so the family lines often run from coast to coast and sometimes, country to country.
Thanks alot.
Jackie
