The second family is the one that I am looking for info on....ok...I am Jessica Sioux Davenport(9/'76), my Father is Paul Leroy 08/'53(Teroy by a typing error on his birth certificate). Paul's mother( my Grandma Davenport) was Norma Lea Conyers (B.1926 S.Dakota-D. Oct. 1980 Manhattan, Riley, KS) married Donald E. Tyson- Son Gary Tyson B. 1947 -Then Married my Grandpa Ross J. Davenport(B. Jan 1924-D. Jan 2013) children Donita Kay Davenport and Paul. Norma passed away in 1980 from breast cancer. I believe my Grandma is 1/4 Yankton Sioux from the Rosebud reservation...Her Parents are Hal F. Conyers(B.13 Aug 1888 Iowa-D. June 1968 Manhattan, Riley, KS)and Louisa E. Cook (B.20 Oct. 1903-D.7 Sept 1929--3/4 Sioux and !/4 White). Norma Lea had a brother name Donald and a sister named Nettie(Nita). Now here is where I get lost...Louisa's parents are Joseph H. Cook(B. 5 Mar 1874 S. Dakota-D.13Apr 1928 S.D.1/2 Sioux and 1/2 ) and Lizzie Cook (B. 1871-11 Dec 1905 S. Dakota?? Full Blooded Sioux) ...where do Lizzie and Joseph go from there?I believe I have heard they are direct decendents of Chief Sitting Bull? Thank You SOOO much for all your help thus far...I am excited to see where we go from here!

22sioux thanks for your reply. Your Joseph H. Cook's father was born in Germany, mother was born either in Germany or Sd(he listed his mom born in Sd on 1900 uS census, but on 1910 Census listed her as also born Germany.the US Census on line only goes to 1940. so if anyone was born after that year, you have to rely on living relatives of your ancestor to fill you in on family history. i would suggest you contact the NARA and request a copy of Lizzie's Probate. You need to provide her English and /or Indian name, tribe enrolled wtih, and when she died. contact maryfrances.ronan@nara.gov it will cost you @15 dollars for 15-20 pages copied, plus 75 cents per additional page copy. you can pay for them by credit card. good luck.

22dakota; the other question is we don't know who Jospeh H's parents were. so see if you get anything at www.familysearch.org website. you need to register, but it is free.they have oodles of records, and other reference material in their archives.

You mention that norma Rae was married to a mr. Ross. When and where?
I was able to find her at age 13 with her two siblings, Donald and nettie ,living with Grandparents, D.W. Conyers and Wife Nettie Conyers in 1940 uS Census for Bear Creek,Searcy,Ark. __________
As for Donald E. Tyson, i found him on the 1930 US Census living in Mahattan,Riley,KS he is listed as son,age 9 yrs. and born @1928 KS. Parents are listed as R. Earl Tyson age 31,b. KS and maryE. Tyson, age 29 born KS. His sibling also listed as Rodney E. Tyson age 2, b. KS _____________________________ however i did not find any marriage records for either Norma ,or her mother Louisa E. Cook any where, using FamilySearch.org this doesn't men that they weren't married legally, just that LDS Archives don't have any records of them being married to anyone. I also could not find any birth records foreiher Louisa,or Norma or Norma's siblings. ____________________________________- Idid find records(Census records for Hal F. Conyers he was born Aug. 13, 1891 Iowa(ref. WWI Draft Card). His parents were David Conyers born @1865 IA, and mother Nettie Conyers, born@ 1864 in IA. Hal F. had a sibling Donais B. Conyrs born @1892 IA. Hal's maternal gr.mother was Mary S. Powers, born@1828 in Illinois. she was living with Hal F., his parents, and sibling in Davison Cty,SD in 1900 US Census fo rthat county . ______________________________________ then I found Hal F. listed at age 42 yrs. widower born IA and the following persons eside nettie, Norma and donald, his children: Brother-in-law Jacob Mc Brige 43 yrs. b. Ark.. sister Donnie McBrige 32 yrs. b. Iowa nephews james D. McBrige 14 yrs. born Ark. and HalC. mcBrige agr 12 b. Canada and nieces: Jane D.McBrige age 8 and sister marjory C. McBrige age 6? . Both were b. in Canada. _____ The land records for charles Mix ,SD do list Joseph H. Cook having land in that county, and a Louisa Walking Horse Cook also having land there. I don't know if this is Louisa' his wife or another Louisa.. maiden name or not.Famiyl search hs her married to a different man with same surname Walking Horse, and they have a child. do you know if Louisa and Joseph were ever divorced? ______________________________________________ so judging by this last census, Louisa must have died in South Dakotabefore 1930.
