Des, Thank you for letting Oyate know of Mrs. Kitto's passing. I believe Mrs. Kitto was the oldest person living on the Santee reservation. She even gave one of my sisters her Indian name. NICC was closed on Friday to honor the passing of a dear elder. Mike, My condolences go out to you and your family. Jackie

Kitto Family: I know this happened a year ago, but I have not been around. Before that I had many wonderful talks with "Mike" Kitto, and many were of his mother. She was a kind and generous woman who would help without being asked. I am certain her heart lives on and her spirit continues to help even more, now that she is free of her worldly body. 100 years, think of all the things she has seen in her days, to be so blessed.
DawnDay: I lost my father in 1973. I know this is not for everyone, but for me, it is easier to speak with my father now, as he is everywhere: in every flower, in all the sky, in my children and grandchildren's eyes.
Look and you will find her, she is but a voice away, listen and you will hear her call, and feel her touch surround you.
Blessings to all ~DarkWolfe

Thank you all for your kind, compassionate words. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
I am writing this a year and 2 months to day mom went home to be with Jesus. I am sure she is having a great time talking to him and visiting her family and friends. I miss her yet. We did not send her flowers and presents or cards and that absence made this year seemed empty. Also, I did not travel home on my vacation to spend a week with her on the Bazile Creek. She always said that when I came home she was on vacation, too. We would drive all over South Dakota, mostly to Pickerel Lake where her childhood home was located and Enemy Swim Lake where her home church, St. James Episcopal is located. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch of the house on Bazile Creek drinking coffee and watching the cars go by. One afternoon we counted 4! I hope I made her proud and happy with the man I turned out to be, I know I caused her some concern when I was young. Which I deeply regret. I know she is standing and listening and watching me alongside of my Lord and Saviour Jesus as I continue in this life. I love you Mom, always have, always will. MIKE
