Can anyone help me with any information in the Sisseton records regarding Mary Red Thuder and her adopted mother, Sarah Sweetcorn. I'd appreciate any information regarding their probate records, adoption records or other. SZ

I have those names on a list and I recall doing some research on Mary RedThunder because of her indian name. I wll get it later this afternoon and get back toyou. I do have her allotment number but not actual records. I did see an indian name next to Sarah Sweetcorn on the 1891 census but I cant quite make it out. I have to run to a 6am fundraiser but will get back to this later today.

This is what I am seeing from the list of persons "from Sisseton Resevation" Sarah Sweetcorn (Unhdakaedutawin) BIA file # 1092 Taninyanmani (Mary Red Thunder) (Dumarce) #731 Dumarce, Mary (Red Thunder-Tainyanhiyayewin) #731
I am not sure about this person but thought I would show it as well King, Mary (sweetcorn - Waziwastewin) #135
the following is from the 1891 Annuity Roll
1301 saketope, jno wakinyanduta age 33 I am thinking Wakinyan duta is Red Thunder marpiyatokiyewin wife 34 jacob son 13 nancy wilson daughter 11 makanaskanskanwin 6 tainyanhiyayewin (mary) 3 .................. spelled slightly different waakiuicewin (?) 1/2
I am going to check on a story I read about Sweetcorn and see if there is anything there on Mary.

Tamara, Thank you so much. I really appreciate the information. I will be traveling to the Sisseton area to find any other kind of record that may be there. Once again, I am so grateful for your help in my search for family records. SherwynZ

Relatives, I just wanted to share this information with everyone who may be searching for other Sisseton Episcopal Church records. Father Chan is a good person to talk to. He handles all the Episcopal Church records from Enemy Swim, Veblen, Old Agency and Lake Traverse. The Churches that he covers are St. Luke's, St. John's. St. James and St. Mary's. If anyone would like to call him regarding family records, I assure you that he is a very kind and helpful individual. His number is 605 698-6528.

Thank you Sherwyn prior to Fr Chan we had Fr Ron Campbell, a really incredible man and very very missed. He taught me by his actions and words the true meaning of love and respect and God in true Dakota way. It was an honor to have had his help in hard times and I am happy to hear that Fr Chan shares some of his qualities. Many of us had not been asking for help from Fr Ron during his illness and to know that Fr Chan is helpful is great news. Thank you for sharing that.
