This does not look like a goverment site , I see no place on this link saying Goverment . So I would not trust it .. It looks like a site that just want your money ... The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) holds 11 million acres in trust for Native Americans. Money from timber sales, agricultural and oil leases is distributed under the Individual Indian Monies (IIM) program. In addition to Individual Indian Monies, the Office of Trust Funds Management administers Tribal Trust Accounts. The Special Trustee for American Indians oversees annual payments of $450 million for 300,000 Native Americans, but the whereabouts of 47,000 Native Americans eligible for payment are unknown. Due to lost and inaccurate records - many lack a current address and social security number - you will likely not be contacted, so you should initiate a search. {Because the funds are held by an agency of the U.S. Federal government, your name will not appear in a state unclaimed property database search.} Note: pending litigation may significantly increase your entitlement. For a search the Office of Trust Funds Management Individual Indian Monies (IIM) Whereabouts Unknown database and to obtain recovery and claims information order our Special Report: Indian Trust Fund Search www.unclaimedassets.com/native.htm

Re: website Denney you are correct. I didn't scroll all the way down until I read your post. I didn't see the request for payment. I was searching and I read it too quickly before I posted. vmarier

The Department of the Interior's official 'whereabouts unknown' list is at: www.ost.doi.gov/LocatingIIM/whereabouts.htmlFor historical interest, etc., there is an older (August 2004) list, indexed at: maquah.net/editor/whereabouts/I'm not sure why the OST would be concerned about that August 2004 list, but last Friday (April 27th) I got an email from "Carolyn Birdsell" <Carolyn.Birdsell@chickasaw.net> : Please contact Mr. Bryan Marozas with the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians (Department of Interior) concerning the Whereabouts Unknown Listing posted at www.maquah.net. Call him at 505-816-1330. Thank you, Carolyn Birdsell, Project Manager Trust Beneficiary Call Center ... [My deceased husband always advised me to 'get it in writing,' so] I sent Ms. Birdsell a reply asking that Mr. Marozas send me an email with his concerns. About an hour later, I got a call from Mr. Marozas, who asked me to take my copy of the list offline. I said, 'it's public information, I got it from the General Accounting Office.' During the ensuing conversation, Mr. Marozas said that OST is using private investigators to track down IIM account beneficiaries; and that they've found some of them in homeless shelters. All of the people on that list (or their heirs - some of them are deceased) have IIM accounts affected by the Cobell v. Kempthorne litigation (see www.indiantrust.com/)I wonder if the OST is asking people to sign waivers 'settling' their accounts (i.e. removing them as plaintiffs in the Cobell case)?
